Marko Petrovic
Princeton University, Class of 2024
I am a first-year on Policy Punchline where I conduct research for guests and help with processing audio and videos. I plan to study at the School of Public Policy and International Affairs with certificates in Eastern European Culture and Society and Linguistics. I was first exposed to international affairs and politics through my high school debate team. Growing up Serbian American, I have always been interested in learning about other nations and cultures, but it was through debate that I was able to officially learn about the ways nations organize and about the political and sociological impacts of public policy.
I plan to continue to learn more about international affairs, specifically around Europe and the Balkans during my time at Princeton. Moreover, I also plan to incorporate aspects of linguistics into my studies and examine how nations can use language as a way to isolate certain groups of people and exclude them from the political discourse. My hope is that by being a part of Policy Punchline, I can learn more about the public policy of the United States and learn more broadly about institutions regarding areas like incarceration and education. When I am not busy writing an essay and or doing problem sets, I spend my free time learning languages and engaging in Greek and Serbian folk dancing. I also enjoy cooking and am always excited to see a new season of Great British Bake-Off on Netflix.
